 a place for all

Orton Bradley Park is a private 650ha rural property situated on the southern shores of Lyttelton Harbour open 365 days a year. We are a fantastic family friendly location, with large open spaces, fantastic sunsets, and park like settings. Over 25km of walking tracks cater for all ages and abilities. They range from the famous Rhododendron walk (20 minutes) to the popular Waterfall Gully Track (2 1/2 hours) and beyond to the DOC Packhorse Hut or Mt Herbert. There will be some changes to our tracks in 2022 Summer including Tablelands becoming a loop track and access to the Packhorse being via the Valley Floor Track. A Google Earth map of the Park Tracks and it’s other features is available here. We are situated next to a stunning 9 hole golf course and have tennis courts nearby. The property has a large children's adventure playground, with flying fox, situated next to a small stream, and we also have a number of short mountain bike tracks suitable for all members of the family. The park is the perfect location for family picnics, birthday parties, school camps and wedding functions. Home to one of the largest trees in New Zealand, Orton Bradley planted over 160 exotic trees of which you will notice some of the trees are numbered. There are also a great number of native trees providing homes to a variety of bird life. For a list of many of  the trees in the park, please click here or go to our Arboretum page.

ENTRANCE FEE

As we are a private park, there is an entrance fee to enter the park. The entrance fee helps to maintain the tracks, buildings and other attractions within the park. Your co-operation is much appreciated.

The entrance fee is $5 per adult, $1 per child, to a maximum of $10 per car load.

COMING AGAIN?

Become a "Friend of the Park" for $35 per year. You and your family can have unlimited entry to the Park, a 6 monthly newsletter, and concessions to special events. Join us and help us keep the park alive and healthy with your contribution. Please fill out the Application form under the Park Hours.

The Park is run under an act of parliament and operates as a charitable trust.

WE ARE A DOG FREE ZONE

Due to Orton Bradley Park being a working farm, and also hosting many young children, we do not allow dogs on the property. There are kennels available for use at the entrance booth.
